NASA Proves the End of the World Isn't Coming Soon

NASA Proves the End of the World Isn't Coming Soon

Worried the end of the world is coming on Friday? A new video from NASA will calm your fears, citing "the whole thing is a misconception from the very beginning."

According to news reports circulating for years, an ancient Mayan prophecy named Friday, Dec. 21 2012 as the day the world would come to an end. The NASA video says one cycle of the Mayan ends on this day, but that doesn't mean the Earth will cease to exist.

"Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012," NASA said in a statement on its webpage dedicated to questions about Dec. 21. "This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar."

The video comes shortly after NASA held a Google+ Hangout to discuss the topic. NASA scientist Don Yeamans stated no known asteroids, comets or rogue planets are headed toward the Earth. (If this was the case, we would already be able to see it in the sky). And the sun isn't a threat now either.

"The world will not end in 2012," NASA said. "Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012."

The video, called "Why the World Didn't End Yesterday," was likely supposed to be released on Dec. 22 and hit the web early. We're not complaining though -- we feel better now.

SURPLUS rainwater should be stored underground instead of in dams to prepare for drought

SURPLUS rainwater should be stored underground instead of in dams to prepare for drought, a scientific study says.

The National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training has made the recommendation as the federal government tables Australia's first national Murray-Darling Basin plan in parliament.

Researcher Andrew Ross says Australia should be "banking" its water underground as an alternative to traditional dams during times of heavy rain.

"There is enormous national potential to store surplus water in aquifers, ensuring sufficient water is available for cities, homes, industry, farming and the environment when drought strikes," he said in a statement.

"Historically, Australians have relied on dams to provide water for agriculture and cities.

"This strategy is not sufficient to cope with increasing climate variability or droughts as demand for food and water grows."

Up to 3000 billion litres (GL) of water a year evaporates from the Murray-Darling Basin, he said.

That level of evaporation almost matches the 3200 billion litres a year the government is hoping to flush back into the Murray-Darling Basin, under its plan unveiled last week and tabled in parliament on Monday.

Mr Ross, who has researched integrated surface water and groundwater management, said storing water underground would ensure sufficient was available for Murray-Darling Basin agricultural production and environmental flows, and avoid the shutdown of irrigation.

The last Venus transit of the century - Exclusive Photos of Venus Transit 2012

The last Venus transit of the century

The planet Venus made a slow transit across the face of the sun on Tuesday, the last such passing that will be visible from Earth for 105 years.Transits of Venus happen in pairs, eight years apart, with more than a century between cycles. During Tuesday's pass, Venus took the form of a small black dot slowly shifting across the northern hemisphere of the sun.Armchair astronomers watched the six-hour and 40-minute transit on the Internet, with dozens of websites offering live video from around the world.Closeup views from the Prescott Observatory in Arizona, fed into Slooh.com's webcast, showed a small solar flaring in the making just beneath Venus' sphere.Tuesday's transit, completing a 2004-2012 pair, began at 6:09 p.m. EDT (2309 BST).(Reuters)

Frog sealed inside the rock or stone

How can frog live inside a thick sealed rock? one thing that comes to my mind when i see frogs is a old film amara silpi jakkana which i saw when i was a kid in which Jakanachari a temple architect and sculpture bets to get his hands cut off when dankanachari his son claims flaw in the statue and bets his life, but jakanachari cuts his hands after his son finds the flaw in the statue a shallow part which contained water, live frog and sand all this happens unaware of their relationship though the story had a happy ending that he got back the hand after completing the temple statue the temple is none other than Channakeshava Temple at Belur and the statue got the name kappe Channigaraya where as kappe = frog though there is a wide controversy about this story whether its real or just a ancient legend i was amazed to when i came across a forum post about some westerners claiming that he had come across a live frog in midst of hard solid rock.

And after simple googling i was really amazed to know seeing that this weird anomaly reported all over the world by miners, quarry workers, rock cutters etc

It is said that during work on the Liverpool docks in 1829,while makiing underwater footing when a granite was cut to make new steps a small toad was found inside the granite and it is said that toad died minutes after it was set free...

In 1761, Ambroise Pare, physician to Henry III of France, documented an account where when a quarrymen broke a large hard stone a huge toad was said to be liberated from the middle of the rock and when ambroise inquired the quarry man the laborer told that he had seen this kinda toads many times in between hardsolid rocks many times.

When a castle wall was being demolished in September 1770, a live toad was plucked from the solid plaster. That wall had stood undisturbed for more than 40 years

Some frogs have been found with the impression of their bodies so tightly jammed against the rock 'pocket' that even the skin's crackles can be seen imprinted on the sides of their frog-shaped hole --meaning the rock formed around them somehow.

Though i found tons of these kinda stories on the net i really confused how could a frog develops inside a hard solid rock that is formed over thousands of years and how could these animals survive such a long time? though many claims that eggs or tadpoles to enter a cavity of rock and then form into frogs this theory is debunked by many and most of the cases showed no such signs of cavity or opening they were truly hard solid sealed rocks....

NASA Life Discovery: New Bacteria Makes DNA With Arsenic

The newfound bacteria thrives in the arsenic-rich waters of Mono Lake in California.

Richard A. Lovett for National Geographic News Published December 2, 2010

No, today's NASA announcement is not about proof of life on another world.

A recent release hinting at "an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life" had bloggers abuzz the past few days with speculation that the space agency had discovered extraterrestrial life.

The truth, however, is that scientists have found life on Earth that's perhaps the most "alien" organism yet seen.

A new species of bacteria found in California's Mono Lake is the first known life-form that uses arsenic to make its DNA and proteins, scientists announced today.

Where do we belong in this UNIVERSE?

UFO in Warangal, India during Diwali Festival

When you say UFO people always expect it to be a phenomena which will occur or be sighted in United states and other western countries but there are so many cases in india which are authentic and rarely make it to the lime light of media and even if it makes still go unheard after a while... is it due to people are ignorant of these kind of phenomenon or lack of interest? what ever it is below is the video which was taken in warangal using the cell phone while taking videos of fireworks during this diwali festival, you can clearly see the blueish disk like lights zooming around the fireworks clearly caught on the tape.

It is said the the school teacher who took videos of this phenomena has made cd and sent it to various research center in india for further investigation

Guys what do you think i bet it is not CGI because these local people do not have enough talent to pull out such a hoax what ever it is just Penn in your ideas.

Travel Tech: Introducing Genus, the First Smartphone That Doubles as a Satellite Phone

Satellite phones are the de facto way to keep in touch with the world when you are on the edges of it, where no other communication options are possible. However, sat phones have always been very expensive, bulky, and somewhat finicky even on a good day, let alone in a raging blizzard or hurricane. In recent years, the size of the phones have come down, but they are still mostly one trick ponies that do voice communications and some slow data and video transmissions (for a hefty per minute price tag). No apps or fancy touchscreens for your sat phone sorry to say. But that is about to change.

AT&T is teaming up with satellite phone service provider TerreStar to provide Genus, a smartphone that also can be used as a satellite phone. It is a clever hybrid that may appeal to those who spend a good bit of time beyond traditional cell connections but then venture back into the civilization and want a more traditional phone to use.

The phone looks like a BlackBerry smartphone at first glance, but it is actually a device running Windows Mobile 6.5. This is not exactly the most up to date or robust mobile operating system, but it can get the job done in terms of basic smartphone functionality. The very BlackBerry-like keyboard allows for texting, although I would not try it with gloves on. It has a meager 2.0 megapixel camera, but has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and traditional 3G cell capabilities, along with a micoSD slot to increase memory storage. You can also record video and audio with the phone but it most likely won’t be as robust as some other smartphones out there.

These features would all be a yawner except for the one little trick it does with satellites. The Genus can connect to the TerreStar satellite system and give you communications when the 3G connection stopped working at the trailhead. Try that with your average smartphone. This is quite nice as you leave the bulk and stubby sat phone antennas out of the mix, but still get the sat communications.

Now all of this comes with some limitations. For starters, this phone only works in North America for now. You also need a clear view of the sky, so no bunker use unfortunately. Specifically, it works best in the United States, so it won’t make the gear list for your next Himalaya trek at this time. You can actually surf the web on this phone and use it to send data via satellite, but like the orbiting tech miles above you, the cost for doing this is sky high ($5 per mb).

The one thing that has not changed is the cost of making a call. Calling on this phone via satellite will set you back big time. You will have to be very aware of your time on the satellite system to avoid big sticker shock on your next bill. If you want use the satellite capabilities you will have to pay $25 extra for this and calls will cost 65 cents each minute, so hopefully you are not a chattering icicle when you phone home or the bill will be steep. The good news is this phone does not come with a contract, but you do need a voice and data plan from AT&T.

What you get is the convenience of having one phone number to serve as both your regular cell and satellite number—and just one device to manage. For some, this may very well be worth the price of admission. The phone points to the continual convergence of mobile communications so expect to possibly see more traditional smartphones with this capability down the road. If nothing else, you can whip out this phone at your next weekend warrior bar stop and impress your friends and a few others with the only phone right now that can make both cell AND satellite phone calls. Oh, and one more thing. The phone is available now for governments and commercial users. Individual consumers will have to wait till later this year for bragging rights.

Additional information about this phone can be found at:

Travel Tech: Into Thin Air: Apple's New Notebooks Are Ideal For Adventure Travelers

There is only one person on the planet who can wrap up aluminum and glass and sell it to the masses in the form of a computer called the Air. That person is Apple's Steve Jobs, and he recently unveiled the new MacBook Air laptops.

Incredibly thin and light as the name suggests, these portables offer some great options for backcountry and adventure travelers who need the power of a full computer with mature operating system wrapped into a solid aluminum enclosure weighing less than your four-season sleeping bag. Two new models were released in 11-inch (2.3 pounds) and 13-inch (2.9 pounds) screen sizes. The 13-inch Air is more or less the same form factor as the original Air introduced in 2008, only slightly thinner and lighter. But this is where the similarities end. There are a number of improved features for the Air line, including the introduction of the second smaller 11-inch model. This smaller model may be the most compelling for those who travel with a backpack instead of briefcase.

New in both models is the addition of a second USB port, an audio jack that can use the microphone on integrated iPhone headsets, and higher resolution screens along with full size keyboards—even on the 11-inch model. The 11-inch model offers less storage capacity and slower processor options than the 13-inch and also does not include the handy SD card slot for reading images from cameras. It also has about two hours less battery capacity, rated at about five hours versus seven hours for the 13-inch model. But, in the world of backcountry travel where ounces matter, the 11-inch model may be a good choice for those who need to do basic computing work such as writing, some lightweight imaging work and web browsing (if you have an Internet connection). The slim, light form factor along the long battery life makes it ideal as group computer on a trip or expedition. In addition, the slim and sturdy aluminum frame of the Airs make them easy to slide into a backpack and the solid state flash drive make these computers boot up extremely fast and maintain their standby modes for a month. Pretty nice for using the field. A final plus is that the use of flash memory for file storage, aside from small fan, the Airs have no moving parts further adding to their durability while on the go despite their thin design.

And if your travels don’t necessarily include a trail and an overnight in a tent, the Airs still are great computers for frequent travelers. Both models will serve you well for those on the go without weighing you down. These laptops are the real deal and not scaled back netbooks. The 13-inch can do a surprising amount of computer processing, including some video, audio, and photo editing. The speed is deceptive because both Air models use the older Intel Core 2 Duo processors including the same one that was in the original Air (supposedly the newer processors run too hot for such a compact form factor). The speed comes from using flash memory instead of a spinning hard drive or standard solid state drive. The difference is both speed and power consumption is dramatic. In addition, a better graphics chip and the ability to bump up to 4 GB of RAM all make the built to order Airs attractive as well as speedy. You have to add the extra memory memory when you order your Air as it is soldered to the motherboard at the factory.

So give the new MacBook Air some serious consideration if you travel often and need a well built, fairly powerful system to get your work done. I think you will find them a pleasure to use. They make nearly perfect second complementary computers to desktop systems and the 13-inch can serve as a primary system for many users, especially if most of your days are spent far from your desk.

Hello friends, are you 3G?

It was early 2003 when i first heard about this 3G technology, i thought sheesh! whats this 3rd generation phones has to offer that present 2econd generation mobi's do not have? i think the type of devices available at that time made me think that way!

Now its 7 years later with all the high tech features and gadgets from iPad, smart mobile, to smart dashboards in car which are SIM and wifi enabled and with several personal incidents and experience i started feeling overwhelming need of 3G's in my Mobile Phone!
Below are few 3G encounters i had shortly and possible important real life uses of 3G :
Video telephony as imagined in 1910

Skydrive to Laptop 3G way....

It was few months ago when few of my old school friends met in our school grounds and had a nice time discussing our good old school days, and it was time to leave as it was too late and we did not noticed how the time passed by, out of the blue one of my friend said that he has scanned all the group photos taken from 1std to 10th and other school day pics and he said it was in his sky-drive he has laptop and mobile internet and could download it and share with us, when we asked whats the size of the pics he told it is of roughly 50Mb i said common we can do it other day, but he promised it ain't take much time though we agreed to stay i had a feeling its would take around 30 - 40 min's with mobile internet,he connected his mobile with his laptop and started downloading... OMG! i was wrong the speed of download from his live skydrive amazed me it took just 12 odd minutes to download 68MB of files isn't that amazing for a phone? finally we spent another hour commenting and enjoying on those pics...
Star trek technology of 80's is today's reality

It was my friend who just married few months ago when i visited his home for some reason i found that his wife was on business trip to mumbai for a week, when i teased him how do you manage without your wife, he stylishly flipped his cell phone dialed his wife and had a video chat with her, both had 3G phones and were on 3G network and he was using free trial offer from his carrier... man i say you have to really experience 3G video calls its amazing, now Distances are just screen away with 3G Mobiles...

Buffer less streaming!

Two of my geek friends always quarrel over the opinion, this happened 2 months ago when one upgraded his carrier to the 3G enabled and other remained in the same carrier because he don't want to change his number even though his carrier did not offered 3G, one of them said that his video streaming capability has improved with the new 3G network and videos stopped buffering instead played right away, but other disagreed and argued that its not the carrier its the device capability and after a while they both agreed to swap SIM and see what happens, results were clear the 3G network performed very well even in the mid level device but where as 2G failed even in the higher end device so it is clear that speed does matter.

So what would be the future of this emerging technology what would be possible applications?

The answer would be infinite, no one thought cell phone would replace wrist watches and television would dump radios all what we can do is just wait and see the 3G game ;) but the game as already started..

Office on the go!

There are so many desktop applications that is available for desktops but not ported to Mobile environment because of lack of bandwidth now with 3G there can open a whole lot of mobile apps where a person can use his office computer from remotely via his cell-phone or update the power point on the go and transfer it to his office laptop before even reaching office with just one click, because mobile office suite is virtually present on all the mobiles with the combination of 3G your phone can become a virtual office... whats more? day might come goto-office will be ported to mobile phones so that all the video conferences might take place just on your phone right at your finger tips...

News Coverage

It is said that with the improved camera capabilities in the mobile devices people are already using 3G technology for Amateur news reporting and ordinary phone users to contribute sensational and important videos to TV and online.
Entertainment, VOD and Personal streaming and Podcast

Now the bandwidth is extreme potential of using mobile like a computer is a reality now with the flash support in majority of the smart-phones, watching youtube videos, video on demand(pay per view) of movies is that easy... did you miss you favorite reality show don't worry online tv on 3G network is glitch less... Are you on a trip to agra and wanted to show tajmahal to your parents don't worry just live stream(video call) to your parents... and with the free pod-casting software now available on the net pod-casting your videos to colleagues, business clients and friends is just as easy as streaming youtube videos
Concept of V(video)logging

Days may come where blogging would be obsolete people may think it will be too effective to convey the information in form of video rather than typing, say women with cookery blog can convey more easily and effectively her new recipe to the world, think about a geek, he can show how to assemble a new computer or fix the computer using his 3G phone to his blog readers(viewers) ;) and many more all this will come true if he has a good mobile device backed with powerful 3G network.

Power of Interactiveness

It was the time when mobile world was static just like the beginning of world wide web now with the advent of 3G which broke the barrier of bandwidth limitation, now gaming companies can develop rich interactive games which might change how we play games on our mobile, similarly chat applications can be created in such a way to share files, videos and music... days may be near chat room might be a common place on mobile phones where people from all parts of the world come socialize and video chat with other people on other side of the world just like yahoo chat rooms... and location based services might even give the glimpse of video how the interior of near by restaurant looks instead of just showing the address and much more....

V(visual)ocial networking

Isnt that thrilling you can actually talk to your friends face to face every morning instead of just writing some crap on their walls? i bet a day may come the existing social networking to become obselete and all are connected with some kind of VisualBook application that might set a standard on how social networking should be this might be really easy with the advent of high speed 3G network

Mobile E-commerce and widgets with 3G

Can't we do e-commerce such as banking, online ticket booking and other transaction on mobile with 2G? of course! we can do but risk of transaction failure in the middle due lost connection and other kind of failure rate were height so people always choose to use Personal computers and laptops more for this purpose, now with 3G where connection is as good as broadband risk of transaction failure is very low and potential of mobile e-commerce is growing so business class people may stop using their net books and lappies one day...

Widgets are heart of modern mobiles almost all carriers offer their own widgets and there are even third parties widgets available out there both paid and free... widgets such as FlashNews Feed, Sports watch, Email Reminders, Stock Market updater, Live tv, Weather buddy are more common widgets on today's mobile which constantly update itself parallel'y to keep in sync with latest updates so with 3G they not only updates fast but shows latest information at any given moment of time.

Video Dating

It is said that the trend of video dating has already began people are already checking out there potential dates using there 3G phones and interactive dating service before actually meeting them so guys why wait dump your 2G phones and start purchasing new 3G enabled phones.

p.s: this is a post for the 3G life blogger contest, powered by NTT DOCOMO.

So guys the potential of 3G what you are seeing now is just a tip of iceberg 3G may change the how we use mobile phone in future in fact it may change even how the mobile phone looks itself... so my last question to you guys... are you 3G?

How to overcome High Blood Pressure-Gastric-Diabetes-Constipation-Cancer-TB and Arthritis?

Drink water on empty stomach

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute

3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:

1. High Blood Pressure (30 days)

2. Gastric (10 days)

3. Diabetes (30 days)

4. Constipation (10 days)

5. Cancer (180 days)

6. TB (90 days)

7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards – daily.

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.

It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals ..not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine..

Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks:

· Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting,

· Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.

· You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.

· Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms..

· 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.

· Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...

Atleast send this message to one, at least you can save one life.

Please be a true friend and send this link to all your friends you care about

oregon sri yantra sacred hindu geoglyph in the west ?

World is full of mysteries and secrets, even with all the modern communication system many of them still just lie dusted beneath the surface unknown to many one such important mystery that few westerners know but unknown to indians but directly related to Indian culture is "Oregon sri yantra" incident.

it was in 1990 air national guard pilot miller noticed something strange geoglyph on Dry Lake Bed during the fly over the massive formation was said to be a quarter mile almost half a kilometer which was etched into a dry lake bed similar to crop circles near steen mountains 70miles southeast of burns the yantra consisted lines of 10inch in width and 13.3 miles long and 3inches in the hard pan though miller don't know at the beginning what it was later he came to know it was the ancient Hindu meditation icon.

and whats interesting is there was no signs of tire tracks, foot prints or any kind of evidence to claim that it was the work of humans and also it is said the researchers vehicle left 1/4' deep tire tracks on crusty surface of the dry lake bed so what do you guys think is this the work of humans? if so why yantra being such a complex geometrical pattern which is very hard to draw perfectly in one stretch even on the paper? though many believe it is the work of some unknown forces or extra terrestrials soon after the formation a person claimed that he was responsible for the "Oregon sri yantra" but soon it was clear that his claims was baseless when he tried to recreate even a smaller pattern with decent precision...

But one doubt still stays in my mind whether it is a hoax? if any of you know any more information about this phenomena do share with us.

Man playing God creating synthetic life form

Craig venter creates a synthetic life form this was the head lines recently i saw in one of the the online news portal guardian and it is said that it took 10 years 20 scientists and an estimated $40 m to achieve such a incredible break through, scientists created organism that would have never existed before some thing like "life engineering" opening a new branch in scientific world is the man playing god?

But one thing that shocked me more was what would be the consequence of this curious invention to the mankind what if this falls in the wrong hands with power, greed, hatred it can be use of wrong and unethical purposes and who knows what can go wrong with these new life form could it lead to a new disease? some kind of mutilation with other kind of existing life forms possibilities and questions are endless so as usual for every invention there will always be a criticism!

But what would be the useful side of this discovery like the cons it has a huge list of pros from organ harvesting, new kind of medicine to fight existing diseases such as cancer and aids to human cloning and miracle agents cleaning our atmosphere according to venter the possibilities are unlimited and presently his research is merely the "tip if the iceberg" so my question at the end what could be hidden beneath the tip of the berg disaster or ultimate salvation for many problems?
