IAC updates Anna wrote a letter to PM of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, reminding him of the 2003 UN resolution against corruption to which India is a signatory. India had committed to creating an independent anti-corruption watchdog. Anna requested the PM to honor the UN agreement and respect the sentiments of Indian public and thereby create Lokpal before the budget session of parliament ends. IAC-Karnataka has been organizing silent 4-member campaigns on a daily basis for three weeks, both in the morning and evening at strategic locations. In addition, larger groups go on protests every Saturday evening creating awareness about ‘Appoint Lokayukta’ Campaign. A large number of citizens have registered themselves for the 4-member campaign. The protest strategy is being constantly evaluated and appropriate steps are being taken. IAC has launched an Anna SMS Card to ensure efficient and timely communication to all supporters. Every person who becomes part of IAC by contributing/ donating a minimum amount of Rs.25 will be given the Anna SMS Card. Further details can be found at http://news. IAC has been emphasizing on discussion forums at micro level. The idea is to involve and engage common man in discussing issues related to corruption, governance etc. These forums should be formed at grassroots level like mohallas, colonies, wards etc. The goal is to make people aware of the happenings around them and to involve them more closely in governance. There will be topics published by IAC-Delhi on a weekly basis. In addition, local topics can also be discussed. More details on this can be found @ http://www. IAC members Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan exposed corruption/kickbacks in Indian defence deals and provided documentary evidence of an alleged middleman’s involvement in manipulating deals. They alleged that Abhishek Verma, son of Congress MPs Shrikant Verma and Veena Verma, is a middle man in numerous defense deals and had received kickbaks in some cases. Abhishek, an accused in the Navy war room leak case, is out on bail since 2008. The issue involving Mufti Samoon Qasmi during the core committee meeting seems to be a well planned conspiracy by some vested interests to defame those people involved in the anti-corruption movement in India. The core committee meeting is never done in secrecy and many times people who are not part of the committee sit in the meeting. But to record the proceedings secretly and raise hue and cry on being caught certainly raises suspicion.
