NOT to do anything without proper sanctions: Whatever may be the urgency or importance of the job

Friends a good one to spend some time.......

A story told by an IIM professor regarding the side effects of systematic working: -

After completion of Lanka War Hanumanji was enjoying LTA with his friends. He got an email on his laptop from Accounts requesting him to clear his dues before 31st March - dues related to his tour for bring Sanjivani Booti for Laxmanji. He ignored the first mail.

But after 3 - 4 reminders in two days time & receiving a call on CUG Mobile from Accounts Dept., he had to fly to Ayodhya canceling his leave.

He submitted:- TA, DA Bill, Bills of Sushen Vaidya, Hospital Charges incurred for Bharatji when he met with an accident during his travel, Cost of Sanjeevani Booti for Laxmanji, Transport charges

      (1) Where is your tour sanction report? Asked the HR & ADMIN Dept.
Hanumanji got it done by requesting to concerned officials 2 or 3 times.

      (2) Hanumanji claimed T.A. bill for air travel - but he was given only second class sleeper charges. And all other expenses on medical, Sanjeevani Booti, Fee of Sushen Vaidya were not reimbursed.

When he asked for the reasons, he was told that

      (a) As per his designation, he is entitled for IInd class sleeper only.
      (b) He can not get claim for other things as he does not have bills.

Then Hanuman approached Shri Rama and explained to him about the deduction on his tour expense report: Then Ramji ordered the related official to pay for Air travel & other charges as claimed by Hanumanji. The officer came with the rule book & told Shri Ramji "These rules are created by the grand father of Dasharathji, If you want to overrule your forefathers I don't have any problem." Ramji became speechless.

So he thought for another way to compensate Hanuman. He called Hanumanji & gave him the claimed amount in cash, But how can Hanumanji take cash money from Ramji?

Hanumanji told "How can I take money from you for treating Laxmanji? Laxmanji is equally reverend to me as you are."

In his heart of hearts Hanumanji thought why he listened to accounts fellow, cut short his LTA, completed all the formalities & put Shriram in such an awkward position where he has to offer money to me.

Hanumanji continued his work with the same attachment as he used to after this incidence also.

Hanuman was almost a God, but for us mortals, learnt a different lesson & that was

"NOT to do anything without proper sanctions: Whatever may be the urgency or importance of the job"

At the most Laxmanji will die - nothing more will happen

What’s in store for you in 2015?

Click on the image to view it larger

A New Year coming up. 2015. What do I want to do with this New Year? How do I want my life to be spent in 2015?

What do you want to do in 2015? What are your goals, resolutions?

I want to spend 2015 being as conscious as possible of my own true nature — my own undying Self, as Ramana Maharshi put it — and expressing that in the days and months to come.

Putting this another way, I wish to do whatever I can to remind myself and you of the timeless happiness and peace that is the core of our divine character — our true birthright in this world.

How to bring joy back to your work - Things that we all know ... but we tend to forget some of these sometimes..

1. Be realistic

We often have a habit of setting unrealistic goals for ourselves. We expect more than what we are capable of and when we are not able to meet our goals, depression seeps in and the work becomes a source of unhappiness rather than joy.

See, if you also aimed to touch skies overnight. If yes, set S.M.A.R.T goals for yourself. SMART here means: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely.

2. Turn to the office with a right mindset

Enter your office with a positive mindset about your work, colleagues and employer.

Bearing negative thoughts about your workplace will not only hamper your performance but will not let you like your work.

3. Maintain a good rapport with everyone at office

This is something said ad-nauseam times but not practiced very often. The best way to do is to maintain an open communication with your boss and colleagues.

Practice small things like helping people wherever you can, pass a gentle smile as you see a colleague and you will see that you will always have some to help or advice you when needed.

4. Try to fix the problems rather than complaining

Most of us have a habit of sitting and criticising things.

Rather than just discussing the problems around it will be a better idea to find a solution to them. This will not only create a healthy work atmosphere but also give you a sense of achievement.

5. Focus on your KPAs

Many of us feel that we are doing a lot of work which is not recognised. This acts as a source of depression at work.

The best way to come out of such a situation is to focus on your Key Performance Areas.

If you do everything but your actual job, your performance will never be appreciated. So, see if you are doing the right things.

6. Maintain transparency

If you are a boss or a senior person at your workplace, try to maintain transparency in the work culture.

Well informed employees are easier to work with and will reduce your worries. Moreover, you will see that they will stand by you in the hour of need.

7. Celebrate success with juniors

Keep patting for the next batting.

Celebrate success with the junior members of your team. If they are happy and motivated, half of your worries will evaporate themselves.

Also, such informal gatherings bring your team members closer and increase the compatibility quotient.

8. Accept new challenges and risks

A common feature of most of the happy professionals around.

This will give you not only the joy of recognition but also a feeling of satisfaction. Identify new challenges and volunteer to handle them.

If you are offered an opportunity to handle any new project which might be totally new for you, accept the challenge and do all that is required to make it successful.

9. Stay away from dirty politics

Dirty office politics will not let you do your actual job affecting your performance, will keep your colleagues away from you and won't let you think constructively.

So, keep away from politics and blame game. If you have committed a mistake, accept it gracefully and learn to correct it.

10. Take a rejuvenating break from work

There will be times when even after practicing all the above mentioned things you will feel exhausted. This is an indication from your body that it needs rest.

So, take a break and rejuvenate yourself for the next inning.

Story Of Appreciation

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.
He passed the first interview; the director did the last interview, made the last decision.
The director discovered from the CV, that the youth's academic result is excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never was a year he did not score.
The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarship in school?" and the youth answered "none".
The director asked, " Is it your father who paid for your school fees?" the youth answered, my father passed away when I was one year old, it is my mother who paid for my school fees.
The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" the youth answered, my mother worked as a cloth cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hand, the youth showed a pair of hand that were smooth and perfect to the director.
The director asked, " Did you ever help your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books, furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.The director said, I have a request, when you go back today, go and help to clean your mother's hand, and then see me tomorrow morning.
The youth felt that as the chance of landing the job is high, when he went back, he happily wanted to clean his mother's hand, his mother felt strange, happy but mixed with fear, she showed her hands to the kid.
The youth cleaned his mother's hand slowly, his tears dropped down as he did that. It is the first time he found his mother's hands so wrinkled, and there are so many bruises in her hand. Some bruises incite pains so strong that shiver his mother's body when cleaned with water.
This is the first time the youth realized and experienced that it is this pair of hand that washed the cloth everyday to earn him the school fees, the bruises in the mother's hand is the price that the mother paid for his graduation and academic excellence and probably his future.
After finishing the cleaning of his mother hand, the youth quietly cleaned all remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.
The director noticed the tear in the youth's eye, asked: “Can you tell what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"
The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'
The director asked, “please tell me your feeling."
     The youth said :
Number 1, I knew what is appreciation, without my mother, there would not the successful me today.
Number 2, I knew how to work together with my mother, then only I can realize how difficult and tough to get something done.

Number 3, I knew the importance and value of family relationship.
The director said, " This is what I am asking, I want to recruit a person that can appreciate the help of other, a person that knew the suffering of others to get thing done, and a person that would not put money as his only goal in life to be my manager. You are hired.
Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates, every employees worked diligently and in a team, the company's result improved tremendously.
A child who had been protected and habitually given whatever he did, he developed "entitlement mentality" and always put himself first. He is ignorant of his parent's effort. When he started work, he assumed every people must listen to him, and when he became a manager, he would never know how suffering his employee and always blame others. For this kind of people, he can have good result, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement, he will grumble and full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parent, did we love the kid or destroy the kid?
You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plate and bowl together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow grey, same as the mother of that young person.
The most important thing is your kid learn how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learn the ability to work with others to get things done.

Coffee or Cup?...

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups.

Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Some times, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."

Don't let the cups drive you... Enjoy the coffee instead

You & God — Awesome Conversation

You & God — Awesome Conversation

Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure

Me: Promise You won’t get mad … … … …

God: I promise

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do u mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late

God: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start

God: Okay

Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait

God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call

God: All right

Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn’t work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one
of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that

Me (humbled): OH

GOD: I didn’t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn’t want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn’t afford to miss work.

Me (embarrassed):Okay

God: Your phone went dead bcuz the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn’t even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me (softly): I see God

God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn’t think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I’m Sorry God

God: Don’t be sorry, just learn to Trust Me…. in All things , the Good & the bad.

Me: I will trust You.

God: And don’t doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.

Me: I won’t God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You’re welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children…

French Rally Raid world champion, Guerlain Chicherit takes a John Cooper Works Mini Countryman and makes it do a backflip.

It took Checherit four years to plan the stunt, which involved him jumping the car, flipping it 360 degrees, then landing on a 8-meter high snow ramp in French ski resort, Tignes. This is real - not CGI.

Thinking is fun: Think a bit...

Thinking is fun: Think a bit...

joke, in which a railway conductor, when asked how long will the train stay at the station, answered "From two to two to two two" (from 2 minutes to 2 o'clock until 2 minutes past 2 o'clock or 1:58 to 2:02). When asked the same question about a second train that will be at the station for the same period, he answered "From two to two to two two, too". The next day, he was asked the same questions but was less sure about the exact times. His answers were "From two to two to two to two to two two" and "From two to two to two to two to two two, too" (both trains will arrive at some point between 1:58 and 2:00, then will leave at some point between 2:00 and 2:02).
