Ashram Schools for STs

Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Tribal Affairs  13-December-2012 17:29 IST Ashram Schools for STs  The Ministry of Tribal Affairs provides grants-in-aid to the respective State Governments/Union Territories for Construction of Ashram Schools for Scheduled Tribe students only. These State Governments/Union Territories have the sole responsibility to arrange for food, essential facilities and other things required for appropriate living of students. However, from time to time the Ministry of Tribal Affairs advises the State Governments/Union Territories to ensure that necessary facilities are made available to the Scheduled Tribes students in Ashram Schools to provide them conducive environment for their studies. This information was given by the Minister of State for Tribal Affair Smt. Ranee Narah in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
