Admission in Higher
Education
The
Twelfth five year Plan document on Higher education, prepared by the Planning
Commission, under the sub-chapter “Enrolment Projections and Targets”,
estimates the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education to increase from
20.2% in 2011-12 to 30.80% during the XIIth Plan period. The document further
sets the target for total enrolment to increase from the present 200 lakh in
2011-12 to 300 lakh by the end of XII plan period.
A total of Rs.1,10,700 crores has been proposed by the Planning Commission for allocation to the higher education sector during the XIIth Plan. This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. Shashi Tharoor in Lok Sabha today. |
