Effect
of Limiting Subsidized LPG Cylinders on MDMS
The Ministry of Human Resource Development had requested
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to allow supply of subsidized LPG
cylinders under Mid Day Meal Scheme (MDMS) as it entailed an additional burden
of Rs.653 crore on MDMS due to increase in the prices of LPG cylinders.
The request of this Ministry has not been agreed to. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has advised that the additional burden could be compensated to the Ministry of HRD through the budgetary provision for Mid Day Meal Scheme. This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. Shashi Tharoor in Rajya Sabha today. BK/VSB/RS |
